Safari and Chrome on uses the infrastructure present in the OS X operating system for certificate storage and retrieval, so in order to export a certificate you need to use the Keychain Access interface to manipulate and export certificates.

Launch Keychain Access, select the certificate to export. 300px

In the context menu, select Export. 300px

Enter a name for the certificate file and select a location for it. Ensure that the File Format is Personal Information Exchange (.p12). 300px

Enter and remember a password to protect the file with, you'll need this to access it later.
